The Wild 10 Countdown for January 9, 2013

Hollerado

Apology for all the delays in posting up the top 10 as I have been bogged down. This is the first countdown of 2013. What a way to start the new year with several tracks from 2012. The start of the new start for the countdown had leftovers from the last year as I was listening to several year-end/best of 2012 music shows during the holidays.
Number one on the top spot is Hollerado as they will be releasing their sophomore album called White Paint. It will be out in February. Returnees on the top 10 are Metric, Cadence Weapon, Grimes, and Diamond Rings as they have been played during the holidays.
Here’s the top 10 for the first of 2013.

1. Pick Me Up – Hollerado (First week at #1)
2. Sad Eyes – Crystal Castles
3. Edie’s Dream – Suuns
4. Put Me On – Diamond Rings
5. A Mirror – Aidan Knight
6. Runaway Heart – Hilotrons

Apologies for the lack of updates on this blog. It was due to being sick back in Winter and I got bogged down ever since. As the regular blog is on a Summer break, what better way to post a brand new entry for the time being.
The August 15th show was a live two in a half hour edition. I was filling in for the Summer show at CKCU-FM. The Wild 10 Countdown was aired live as opposed to pre-recorded. For the second week at the top spot, Stars is number one as anticipation of the upcoming album, The North will be released on September 4th. New entries for this week are Kashka and Papermaps. Still going strong on the top 10 are Diamond Rings, Hannah Georgas, Crystal Castles and Purity Ring.
Also played on the show were new tracks from the likes of The Luyas, The Wilderness of Manitoba and Rah Rah. A bit of withdrawl from the 2012 London Summer Olympics.

Here’s the top 10 and you can also listen to the radio show.
1. Backlines – Stars (2nd week)
2. I’m Just Me – Diamond Rings
3. Enemies – Hannah Georgas
4. Plague – Crystal Castles
5. The Void – Metric
6. Belispeak – Purity Ring
7. It Ain’t Over – Shad
8. We Didn’t Know – Fire X Fire

The Wild 10 Countdown for January 5, 2011

The return of the Wild 10 Countdown to kick off 2011. After a 2 week hiatus from Christmas, the countdown resumes as there were a few new track as bands and musicians gear up for their 2011 releases. That’s right, Young Galaxy, Jenn Grant and The Rural Alberta Advantage are coming out with their albums for 2011. The only surprise for the return of the countdown happens to be a returning #1 song. That’s right, Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains) by Arcade Fire rebound back to the #1 spot due to the fact that the song was played on various radio shows as it was considered the best song from the 3rd studio album, The Suburbs. Without further ado, here’s the top 10 list for the first week of 2011.

1. Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains) – Arcade Fire (6 weeks at #1)

2. Stamp – The Rural Alberta Advantage (New entry as their upcoming album, Departing comes out on March 1st)

3. Wild Folk – Jim Bryson & The Weakerthans (Fallen down from the #1 spot. The countdown was on a two week break)

4. Little Voice – Rebekah Higgs

6. Minimum Wage Lovers – The Mountains & The Trees (From the 2010 leftovers. His Ottawa got rescheduled)

10. How I Met You – Jenn Grant (New entry to start off the countdown for 2011. Honeymoon Punch comes out next week and she’s the X3 Artist of the Month for January)

The Wild 10 Countdown for December 15, 2010 – Final Edition for 2010

Let me clarify, it is not the end of the countdown. It’s just the last for 2010 and it will be on a two week break. The final edition was just the same 10 songs for the past few weeks. Except for the #1 song, the 9 songs were randomly mixed around in different charting position.

Here’s the final top 10 for twenty-ten.

1. Wild Folk – Jim Bryson & The Weakerthans (Number one for the third week as it’s the final #1 for 2010)

2. Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains) – Arcade Fire (I had a guest host on and she really likes the song)

3. Minimum Wage Lovers – The Mountains & The Trees

4. Not The Stars – Allie Hughes

5. Something Else – Diamond Rings

6. Not In Love (featuring Robert Smith) – Crystal Castles

Happy holidays and see you back in 2011.

The Wild 10 Countdown for December 8, 2010

Supposedly, the December 8th edition of the Wild 10 Countdown was the final countdown of 2010, but I found out I got lots of time for the extended for the couple of Wednesdays. It means that next Wednesday will be the final countdown of 2010 and it will be a random kind as the current 10 songs will be mixed around in the positions.
This week’s countdown had no new entries as the Christmas holiday nears. There were a few gainers, a few non-movers and a few droppers. As mentioned from my blog, I had The Mountains & The Trees as a surprise guest during the countdown. Here’s the list.

1. Wild Folk – Jim Bryson & The Weakerthans (2nd week at the number one spot)

2. Not In Love (featuring Robert Smith) – Crystal Castles (Steady at #2)

3. Something Else – Diamond Rings (Also steady at #3 since last week)

4. PUSH – Rich Aucoin (Going up from #5 last week)

5.  Minimum Wage Lovers – The Mountains & The Trees (Going up to #5. He was in Ottawa recently and had a sold out show at The Black Sheep Inn)

6. Not The Stars – Allie Hughes (Down from #4 last week. She’s doing a Christmas show)

7. Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains) – Arcade Fire (Even though they earned a Grammy Award nomination, the song is dropping)

8. Little Voice – Rebekah Higgs (Going up a spot. She will be in Ottawa next weekend)

9. Please Bless – Tanya Davis (Going up a spot. She had a good show and turnout at The Black Sheep Inn last Friday)

10. Stumble – Bonjay (Slightly going down)
